Wild Plum Jam

The American Plum (Prunus americana) is a native fruiting tree and shrub long woven into the hedgerows, farmsteads, and woodland edges of the Central Illinois landscape. Our American Plum Jam captures the bright, fleeting abundance of late summer. Sourced from small family farms and wild spaces, these small native plums offer a lively balance of sweetness and tang in every bite. American plums have the quintessential plum flavor, nostalgic and unexpectedly sophisticated.

American plums are delicate, highly seasonal, and rarely grown on a commercial scale, so few people experience their remarkable flavor. This small-batch jam preserves that brief harvest using simple ingredients, lower sugar, and no artificial colorings or unnecessary additives.

American plums have nourished communities across the Midwest for generations. Indigenous peoples throughout the fruit's native range gathered and preserved these fleeting harvests, carrying forward ecological knowledge rooted in seasonality, stewardship, and place.

Our goal is simple: to let the true nature of the American plum shine through, preserving its remarkable, fleeting flavor rather than masking it. We want every spoonful to capture the joy of discovery—the unexpected delight of finding small red fruits hidden among hedgerows, and bringing that sense of wonder back to your table.
