This beginner embroidery sampler gives you the opportunity to learn and practice 5 different hand embroidery stitches that you can go forth and create magic with. Each element - all the hearts and the text - is a different stitch, but they all look fabulous together, if I do say so myself. I've included 4-inch and 5-inch patterns in this PDF digital download, and the 4-inch size is perfect for a Christmas ornament, if that's something you're into.

I've linked each stitch to a resource page with step-by-step instructions, photos, and videos. I want you to fall in love with hand embroidery. It's been a real balm for my own mental health, and I've loved having a portable, inexpensive, meditative, creative outlet.

This hand embroidery pattern is beginner friendly and fun to sew. I provide suggested DMC thread colors plus stitch suggestions and guidance, but I encourage you to be creative and choose your own! I used white cotton fabric for this rainbow design, but plenty of other colors will look great. If you choose a dark color, simply swap the black embroidery thread for white. Use what fabric you have, or sew this pattern onto a shirt or tote bag, for example. This would be extra adorable embellishing a baby onesie.
