"I wish you lived next door" is a sentiment I hold about a number of my friends and chosen family. I love this idea stitched as a homemade Christmas ornament - something they can hang and see every year. I chose to stitch two line-drawn homes connected with a heart, and with stars (or is it snow?) in the sky above. There's enough room underneath the houses that if you want to add a name or a year, you have the space. It would also be a lovely small gift for New Year’s, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, or a special anniversary / birthday.

These 3-inch or 4-inch DIY ornaments make lovely gift on their own or as fancy gift tags on larger presents. This design would also make adorable cocktail napkins or dinner napkins at a cozy supper or happy hour.

This modern embroidery pattern is straightforward and satisfying, and absolutely beginner friendly. This DIY gift uses only a few basic stitches to great effect. I provide stitch suggestions and recommend DMC thread colors, including blue, pinks, and metallic gold. But I encourage you to be creative and choose your own! (see photos for a variation)
